Hello! Call me Lola. Lola is an alter ego that I took from Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. She exemplifies the level of badassery, classiness, and confidence that I aspire to become.

Washington Square Park, November 11, 2016. The crowd of people was the beginning of a Trump protest.

I am currently a second-year master’s student at NYU Silver School of Social Work. My main professional interest resides in mental health, and I’m extremely interested in the unconscious process by which our experiences shape our identity. As I forge a path to becoming an adult (and hopefully, a social worker), I became aware of the unshared stories and thoughts that hold me back from moving forward in life.

This blog is an attempt to uncover my biases, understand my thoughts, and find closure from events that can neither be changed nor forgotten.

“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.”
